I wakened up this morning (which is a good thing in itself) and suddenly realised how easy it is to slip back into the old ways of thinking and living, and going against so much of what I have said in previous posts about my illness.

Yesterday’s post was a bit in that category. Yes, it had been a bad week and I did have to get it off my chest, but I really feel that I spent too much time and effort on the bad side of the week. I hope I didn’t make you see just the bad bits. As I said in my post about things going wrong, it’s the problem with problems that we just see the wee black dot and forget about or don’t even notice the bright white light of good stuff!

So, yes, Monday and Tuesday weren’t the best days ever, but they were days when I wakened up. They were days when I was alive. They were days which led into Wednesday, which was quite good, Thursday which was better, Friday which was amazing and Saturday which was really enjoyable! They were days that gave me a marker and a reference point as to just how amazing life can be!

That means that those two days were actually good days!

I made the title of this post Well Heeled partly because I am a smarty-pants who likes to play about with words and they link to yesterday’s title, But mostly because we are well-heeled. I don’t mean that in the sense that Libby and I are totally overflowing with cash. (We aren’t, so don’t flood the comments box with requests for donations!) I mean that we have so many other things going for us, so many blessings. One of them is that we are both ready and willing to dig our heels in and stand our ground. We both have our Christian faith to help us do this but, even without that faith, we are both fighters and we do not give up. We are not going to give up. Black dots get removed!

Libby decided a few days ago to start a journal. It’s not one where she sits down and writes pages and pages. It’s just a few lines every day. It’s not a deep exposition of a Bible passage. It’s just a few lines every day. It’s not the story of the day. It’s just a few lines every day.

At the end of every day, Libby writes a list of the good things that happened that day. That’s all.

I think it’s a wonderful idea and a way to get life into perspective. You might want to try it. You might find that it transforms your life.

Mine for today starts

  1. Woke up
  2. Libby was next to me

  1. I love this! It’s so easy to slip into that negative ninny mode when things don’t go well. Thankful I have my faith and friends like you to remind his well heeled I am too. In so many ways, and I thank the Lord for that.

Beautiful words and a beautiful photo of a beautiful lady. ❤️
