It&#8217;s down at the end of Lonely Street, at Heartbreak Hotel.[\/pullquote_right]We all have times of heartache in our lives. If we haven&#8217;t, then it&#8217;s one of those &#8220;not yet&#8221; things &#8211; sooner or later, heartache will probably come.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s part of life, part of growing up. We get emotionally attached to someone, then it all goes wrong. Everything falls apart, our lives crumble into sadness, and we find ourselves, as Elvis Presley sang, in Heartbreak Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>It hurts, deep inside it hurts. &#8220;That&#8217;s it &#8211; no more relationships! I&#8217;m not going through that again! Never again! I&#8217;m finished with love!&#8221; (I can&#8217;t remember what age I was when it happened to me, but I&#8217;m glad that I changed my mind about being finished with love!)<\/p>\n<p>When we get heartbroken, we can take our heartbreak to the one who will always love us, who is always there, the one who loved us so much that he died for us.<\/p>\n<h2>But!<\/h2>\n<p class=\"bible\">The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.<br \/> And the Lord said, &#8220;I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing &#8211; all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.&#8221; <br \/>(Gen 6:5-8, NLT)<\/p>\n<p>It broke his heart. The sin of the human race left God heartbroken. And he was sorry he had ever made people. He was going to destroy the whole lot. Everything. He was on his way to Lonely Street.<\/p>\n<p>But he changed his mind, and through Noah&#8217;s line, we are here.<\/p>\n<p>When we are heartbroken,\u00a0 we can take our heartbreak to a loving God. But do we realise just how much we break his heart when we sin, when we get things wrong?<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps we are so concerned about how our heart is that we don&#8217;t even think about his.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe we should.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all have times of heartache in our lives.
