Happiness, according to the dictionary is a state of well being and contentment.

I do not see a lot of contentment in the society in which we live at the moment. All our labour-saving devices and technological advances have maybe given some a better quality of life, but this does not necessarily mean a more contented life. In fact, I think the opposite is true in most cases.

As Christmas fast approaches, we are bombarded with the latest Play Station thingy (I know nothing about PS 1, 2 or 3), the latest iPhone, pod or book, the latest computer and everything that goes with that. So of course, we need to upgrade to the latest one because we’re not content with the old one. These are all the techy things but the same could be said for cars, furniture and clothes etc. There has been an increase in plastic surgery in recent years because people are not content with the way they look. Husbands or wives become discontent and unhappy with the one they’re with, decide on an upgrade (or so they think) and move on. We are constantly looking for better, bigger and more up-to-date but sadly, any happiness achieved is very short-lived.

Can I suggest, Mr Cameron, that you try and get the country back to its Godly, Christian roots, when people believed and trusted in God for their happiness and contentment. Psalm 119 v 35 says “Make me walk along the paths of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. (NLT) The apostle Paul also got it right when he said “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.” Phil. 4 v 11

I believe that everyone has a God-shaped void in them and therefore it can only be filled with God. He made us to be in relationship with Himself and until we fill that void with Him I’m afraid that the latest PS 3 is just not going to cut it.

So, Mr Cameron, let’s get the nation back to God and there we will find all the happiness we will ever need.

P.S. This advice is free of charge![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

I was interested to read that Prime Minister, Mr Cameron, is going to spend £2million on measuring the happiness of the British people.
